So, first up - full disclosure. As a member of the Ambulance Service I have worked with Steve Cameron in his previous career since I moved here 10 years ago. I have also come to know Steve as a friend.
However, although helping a friend make his way in a new career may have played a small part in my decision to list my property with Steve, it was not the main consideration. I still wanted what everyone else wants, value for money from my agents and the best possible price for my property. To this end, I admit, I went to several agents in the Waihi area and had them appraise my property. There were varied appraisal values, and different pricing structures that, in fairness, undercut the costs of selling with Eves.

Steve and I met when I wandered into Eve's new office in Waihi to enquire about possible tenants for our property in Waihi that I half owned with my son Elliot.

Steve was friendly and easy to get along with. Without any obligation he gave me the details of a couple who had earlier enquired about a rental property in Waihi and suggested I might be interested in an appraisal of the property. Within an hour Steve came to visit the property. Although he had only very recently become a real estate agent he impressed me with his knowledge of the local market and his relaxed friendly manner gave me confidence.

We received our positive appraisal presented in the very professional way and this encouraged us to put our property on the market. All through the process beginning with our "round table" discussion on the sale price through to how we were going to market the property and everything in between was very inclusive and considerate of how both my son and I felt.

Very shortly after listing the property we received an offer for the property at the full asking price. We were delighted that Steve's work had resulted in such a quick result at the price we were asking. Unfortunately the sale fell through during the Covid-19 level 4 lockdown our purchaser was living in Queenstown at the time and we can only speculate they were affected by the lockdown.

As it happens we have taken the property off the market in the meantime until we have an idea what the future holds and Eve's are now managing the property as a rental for us which has been a very easy transition for us, thanks to them.

If we decide to sell our property in the future Steve Cameron would be the first person I would contact. I recommend his open relaxed manner and his high professional standards when it matters.
